Ok, this Chior Teacher Rocks

Personally, if my kid were in this person's choir, I would make a personal award of half thier salary.

The Gifford Children's Choir with one of my top-ten favorite songs of all time, "Still Alive."

I'd double it if my daughter were singing the solo. I'm just saying.

Have you missed me? I missed you...

And so, I have been "Up All Night." By the Suburban Legends. This song was too stupidly funny, (complete with Whoot - Whoot sounds in the chorus) and had a rockin horn section.

Ok, I just watched the video...that was pretty cool as well. Skazilla! Yeah, I know we have been ska heavy lately, so this is my last ska-centric vid for a few months. Enjoy it or not...

Sick. Tired. Out of sorts.

This is what happens when alcohol isn't in my system to kill viruses. I get sick. So miserable, and on top of that, allergies are kicking my ass.

At least I have The Pacific to look forward to. Not as great as Band of Brothers, but then again, it doesn't have to be.

So, I wanted something mellow today. Carly Simon, with "Nobody Does it Better." I like being a nobody.

Got Soul?

The Killers, with "All the things that I've done."

Catchy tune, liked it. Thought I'd share.

Friday Morning Beats

So, I was up watching "Hackers." What a great, crappy movie. Seriously, the whacked macs were totally cool, but the visuals? The dialog? "RISC is going to change everything... It's fast, triples the speed of the Pentium..." Aaaugh.

The music rocked serious ass in this movie, though. I already featured Underworld's "Cowboy," so here's Stereo MC's "Connected."

In that same "Connection" string, here is Elastica. Hearkening back to the 90s... where androgyny ruled the day.

Happy Double Friday, kids.

Another Bishop song?

Wow, I have another Stephen Bishop song. I blame Family Guy, they were playing this at the end of Sunday's episode.

For the record, i never actually saw Tootsie. I still consider my life to be complete.

Kick Ass!

Kick Ass. Cannot wait to see this movie.

From the Movie "Kick-Ass!" is Mika. Queen wannabe? Possibly. Bubblegum? Definitely. Still a catchy tune, even if I have to watch "Glee" to be less swishy.

Some Angry, Fun Ska

Streetlight Manifesto's "Point/Counterpoint." Long for ska, but still a fun song.

Never die with your song unsung.

Wow, I'm feeling a bit funky. Adding another song. Yup, cuz I'm crazy like that. It's how I roll. Reel Big Fish's "Thank you for not Moshing (In the Pit)."

And yes, it is awesome to punch someone right in the face.

Ok, I'm giving you all time to learn this one...

The Pogues. "Boat Train." You have two days.

Here are the lyrics:
I met with Napper Tandy and I shook him by the hand
He said hold me up for chrissake, for i can hardly stand
the most disgraceful journey on which i've ever been
the last time that i traveled on the boat train
i had a couple of drinks in town, a few more in the port
i puked up on the gangway but some kind folks helped me board
they sat me at a table, poured whiskey down my throat
sat me at a table and i lost my watch and coat
First we drank some whiskey
then we had some gin
then we had tequila i think that's what did me in
then we had some brandy and the women had a dance
the steward then announced that we could play the game of chance
we crowded round the table with our money in our hands
i landed on the other side without a penny in my pants
woke up in the toilet when we got to Holyhead
the doors were all a-banging and i wished that i was dead

then we went through customs
a couple of credited thugs
first they looked for bombs and guns
then they looked for drugs
stuck a flashlight up my ass
told some Irish jokes
said fuck off now paddy
so i headed for the smoke
on the boat train
we got on board the train and then we had a drink or two
started playing poker but the booze ran out at Crewe
some people started sleeping, others looked for duty free
some bastard started singing little cottage by the lee
he then sang paper roses, boolavogue, eileen aru
somebody started slagging off the Pakis and the Jews
found a bottle of whiskey
found a bottle of gin
i sat down in the corner and i read the daily news
first i drank the whiskey
then i drank the gin
i tried to make the toilet
but i broke my fucking shin
the next thing that i knew i was in London in the rain
staggering up the platform on the boat train

Fun, wasn't it?

I want you to.

Can't sleep, clowns will eat me.

So, a little Weezer is called for. Enjoy your Friday, kids. Methinks it will be a long day. Weezer's "(You're wondering if I want you to) I Want You To."

Wow, I'm still awake after that one. How about "Perfect Situation?" It is Double Friday, after all. Interesting thing about this video, the actual chorus differs from the original LP recording. However, the video was so enamored by fans, that the chorus was sung back to them at concerts... so they sing both chorus types, depending on the pervasiveness of the crowd.

Before there was Weezer... there was Weeze.

I'm kinda feeling in the mood for one more. "Say it Ain't So" from the immortal Blue Album. I think I cranked this album more while in Guantanamo Bay than any other. I was there for work, I stayed for the pie. While blaring up high, one can hear all the raw edges, the miscues, and the uneven engineering that just make this perfect.

Rivers Cuomo is a rock God.

Vegas, Baby!

So, while I was on the Royal Links Golf course (the driving range, specifically), they had Dino playing. There are certain things about Vegas that I love.

Dean Martin's "Ain't that a kick in the head." And it is. Enjoy.

Get Outta Town!

You don't have to tell me twice.

Lucky Soul's "Get Outta Town." Like the Beatles homage.

Cya in a few.

Semper Ubi Sunscreen...

Heading out to Sin City soon, I thought that this was somewhat good words to heed.

I wanted to put it up last year, just never got around to it. Baz Luhrmann, reading Mary Smirch's "Advice, Like Youth, Probably Wasted on the Young." Hopefully my daughter will read or listen to these words.

I should remember to pack that sunscreen...
