So, I always get the "Mix Tape!" request. Screw that. every week, until the end of the year, I'll give the "Top Five" request, in honor of the book High Fidelity. I'll try not to dupe my previous songs.
The title of this mix is: Top Five Fun Summer Songs.
We will start it off with "Bad Reputation" by the Hit Girls. Yes, I know that Joan Jett and the Blackhearts did it earlier, but my daughter loves singing this out loud. For a shy little girl born to an outspoken father, this kicks ass. First.
Next up, Streetlight Linoleum's cover of NoFX's "Linoleum." Such a great punk song, yet, crazy fun in this version. Hip, quiet and fun. And you get to actually hear the lyrics!
Green Day's "J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)" from the movie Angus. Such a great movie. Loved it. I wish I were a teenager watching this movie.
What Next? Slow it down. Completely different. Stevie Wonder. "Sir Duke" can fit the bill. seriously, if you can't smile to this song, you need to turn in your music card. Shut up and listen.
Finally! Closing it down with a bit of a slower song, Michael Buble singing "All of Me." Off the album Crazy Love, the chops here are awesome, the pacing nice, and the arrangement amazing.
One last bonus: something I have kinda posted before. Jonathan Coulton's "Stil Alive."
"... I may be dying, but I'm still alive."
Great words.

Looks like this one may be fun...
So, continuing this new music emo mood people are seeming to enjoy (I'm just prepping for when my daughter hits her teen years), I have a great new one. Heartfelt ballad, boy loves girl, boy loses girl, boy stalks girl.
What?
Yeah, damned emo dudes. Get up off yor pillow, throw off your shawl, comb your hair and tell the girl you like her. Don't be the "best friend." Gay.
A Rocket To the Moon's "Like We Used To."
And a fun acoustic version of this years hip summer song: Travie McCoy's "Billionaire."
And finally, to round this fun morning out, is a live recording that Weezer made of a mashup of MGMT and Lady Gaga. Insanely hip.
I think that should be enough for now. Have a good day, kids.

Something new and random for a Tuesday
Ladies and Gentlemen, Christina Perri with "Jar of Hearts." Interesting tune. Liked it. I rarely hear new stuff I like now. Every now and then, things like this suprise me.
Anyway... enjoy!
