Happy Mother's Day, to all of you mothers out there. That is a tough job, let me tell you. I'm always amused at the Mother's Day/Father's day disparity that was shown in my household growing up. My Mom liked us near, got a nice dinner and things, and was generally treated well (as well as kids can treat their mom). My Dad loved to be left alone. I veer toward the latter, preferably with a nice scotch.
There aren't really very many great mom songs from my youth, however. Pink Floyd does have a standout mother song... but its more snarky and cruel than I think should be shown today. However, this year Natalie Maines covered the song quite well, and it really gives a much more interesting voice to David Gilmour's interpretation.
Plus, you know, New Music and all. Natalie Maines with Mother. Don't let her break your balls.
